Sigma Announces Start of Voting for Family Friendly Photo Contest

Three Contestants to Compete for $500 in Sigma Gear

RONKONKOMA, NY--(Marketwire - August 18, 2010) -  Scowling little faces, toddlers dressed in animal costumes and family fun on the beach were among the nearly 270 photos submitted for the Sigma Corporation of America "Momtographers' Photo Contest." Now, it's up to the voters to decide the top photo in each of the three contest categories: "Dressed for Success," "The Holidays and Vacation," and "Funny Faces."

At stake are three separate prizes of $500 worth of Sigma gear, which will go to the owner of the photo receiving the most votes in each category.

To view the contestants' images and vote for your favorite, visit www.sigmaphoto.com/momtographers. Voting will take place from Aug. 17 to Sept. 20.

"We were very impressed with the creativity and image quality of many of the photos we received," said Mark Amir-Hamzeh, general manager of Sigma Corporation of America. "This contest is all about showcasing and recognizing the abilities of moms to capture and preserve their family's most memorable moments. We're happy that so many moms and dads shared these treasured images with us and look forward to an exciting voting competition."

Amir-Hamzeh encouraged contestants to reach out to their friends and colleagues through their social networks to seek their votes. "What we saw in the Sigma Scholarship Contest earlier this year was that contestants were highly resourceful in spreading the word through their networks. We're expecting the same activity with the Momtographers' Photo Contest."

Each voter is limited to voting for one photo per category. Voters must register with a working email address in order to cast votes. Separate from the online, public voting, Sigma executives will choose the best overall photo as the grand prize winner, whose owner will receive $2,500 in cash. The grand prize winner will be announced Sept. 29.
