Simba Survey Encourages Amazon Kindle Owners to Make Their Voices Heard

STAMFORD, CT--(Marketwire - December 10, 2009) - Simba Information, which recently produced the groundbreaking "Trade E-Book Publishing 2009" and "Trends in Trade Book Retailing 2009" reports, is sponsoring an online survey exclusively for owners of a Kindle device.

"In light of the angry Twitter feeds and Web postings after yesterday's announcement of some publishers delaying e-book releases for months after the hardcover comes out, we realized dedicated e-book device owners may feel they don't have a voice as the e-book ground is shifting beneath their feet," said Michael Norris, senior analyst at Simba Information. "Simba is proud of our tradition in providing independent analysis to the industry and if Kindle owners want to step up and participate in this short survey, we'll make sure their message gets across."

The survey, which is only to be filled out by owners of Kindle, Kindle 2, Kindle International or Kindle DX, seeks to answer questions on device usage, content consumption and offers owners of the device a place to make recommendations and suggestions to publishers -- as well as to Amazon and other e-book device makers. Simba has designated the survey for Kindle owners only as e-books for this device must be purchased from Amazon directly, and a more encompassing survey may be considered in the future.

Norris stressed the survey was conceived entirely by Simba and is not being sponsored or supported in any way by Amazon, any publisher, or any hardware or software company. All individual results will remain anonymous and an aggregate summary of findings will be made public. E-book/tech bloggers who promote this project will be given first consideration.

"We imagine Kindle owners are curious about who else is using these devices and how they feel about e-books," said Norris. "This is a win-win for Kindle owners in that they will not only be able to communicate what they want directly to publishers and retailers, but learn more about their peers."
