Siteworx Leads Interactive Website for U.S. House of Representatives' 'Green the Capitol' Program

Site Deemed Best Government Website by the Summit Creative Awards

RESTON, VA--(Marketwire - May 6, 2010) -  Siteworx, a leading interactive agency with deep Web content management (WCM) expertise, today announced its leading role in designing and developing the "Green the Capitol" website -- an award-winning online portal hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives that communicates the U.S. government's multi-year commitment to energy conservation. Recently honored with a gold Summit Creative Award for best government website, the site allows users instant online and mobile access to a wide range of relevant greening projects undertaken within the House that also serve as models of what can be done by individual organizations and citizens.

Siteworx collaborated with the Chief Administrator's Office (CAO) of the U.S. House of Representatives to create a straightforward, easy to navigate site that spoke to the overall Green the Capitol mission. The vibrant, highly usable design incorporates cutting-edge interactive Flash and 3-D animation components to showcase the program's initiatives and built in subtle visual transitions and graphic treatments that help bring the innovative ideas and initiatives that are central to the Green the Capitol program to life.

"The Green the Capitol website is a prime example of how technology and design can seamlessly blend to create a visual and engaging experience for users," said Rand Kramer, vp of visual design and co-founder of Siteworx. "We aimed to create a site that would speak across audiences -- from legislators to private citizens -- and properly conveyed in an easy and straightforward way how these greening initiatives can be implemented nationwide in homes, schools, companies, and beyond."

The Green the Capitol program was first started by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in 2007 to make the U.S. House of Representatives a national leader in resource stewardship and sustainable business practices. From its onset, Green the Capitol set several overarching goals: to reduce energy consumption by 50 percent over ten years; to use only electricity generated by renewable sources; and to dramatically reduce the Capitol's carbon footprint.
