Skye Provides Project Update Including Additional Drill Results

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - June 5, 2006) - Skye Resources Inc. ("Skye") (TSX:SKR) today provided an update for its Fenix ferronickel project including the final assay results from the feasibility study drilling program. Having received all of the drill results the Company expects to announce an updated resource estimate at the end of June, and to complete the feasibility study for a ferronickel project producing 50 million pounds of nickel annually by around the end of September.

The environmental impact assessment for the refurbishment of the Fenix processing plant is essentially complete and should be filed with the Government of Guatemala this month. A social and environmental assessment of the entire project involving extensive consultation is also being carried out to comply with international principles.

Skye's project finance advisor, Cutfield Freeman, has initiated discussions with international project financiers, and a process is underway to retain an independent engineer to review the feasibility study on behalf of lenders.

In addition to the feasibility study for Fenix, Skye is also undertaking a preliminary assessment of a subsequent hydrometallurgical expansion that would add 50 million pounds of annual nickel capacity. As a result of the analysis undertaken by Hatch Ltd., which is leading this assessment, it has been determined to base the study on application of high pressure sulphuric acid leaching. This process would utilise the limonitic component of the resource which would not be used by the ferronickel smelter, and also maximises the production of by-product cobalt (approx 3.75 million pounds pa).

Drill Results

The drill results tabulated herein are from Areas 215, 217 and 251. Area 215 is located 3 km north of the Fenix plant site at elevations between 750 and 800 m. The holes from 217 are part of the 330 hole in-fill drilling program which evaluated Areas 217-1 and 2 on a 50 x 50 m grid pattern. These deposits are located 3 to 4 km northwest of the plant at elevations between 400 and 500 m. The drilling tested an area 2.0 km long by 1.3 km wide. Area 251 is a large laterite landform about 20 km west of the plant site.

Holes with no significant results in Areas 215 and 217 are concentrated on the margins of the deposits where the laterite thins or has been eroded at the increase in topographic gradient. The holes with no significant results in Area 251 primarily occur in three areas. The deposit is divided into east and west lobes by a south flowing drainage system. Holes on either side of the streams separating the two main deposit areas are not well-mineralized indicating the saprolite has been eroded from this area. A group of weakly mineralized holes also occur along the southwest margin of the deposit where the laterite profile thins to the edge of the landform. The third area of poorly developed saprolite occurs in the northeast part of the eastern lobe, where the landform rises steeply to the north and laterite has either not been developed or has been eroded from the slope.

Mineralized intercepts are herein reported using a 1.5% Ni cut-off for minimum vertical widths of 2 meters. The intercepts are averages weighted by sample length and a calculated density. New resource and reserve cut-off grades will be determined by Skye Resources during the course of its feasibility study of the Fenix Project (see February 28, 2005 news release: Feasibility Study to Commence Immediately; 45,000 Meter Drill Program Commences).
