Slavutich and Lvivske on tap at the Toronto Festival of Beer

World class Ukrainian beers seduce Toronto beer lovers

Attention: Assignment Editor, Food/Beverage Editor, Lifestyle Editor OAKVILLE, ONTARIO, MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - Aug. 6, 2008) - This weekend, Slavutich and Lvivske will join 200 other beers at Toronto's Festival of Beer at Historic Fort York. The 'Beer Fest', as it is known to many, is one of the largest in Canada. It is the 13th anniversary for the event and the fourth time that these Ukrainian brews have been on offer at the Festival.

"Slavutich and Lvivske are among the best beers of their style," says John Vellinga, president of Multiculture Bevco, which markets both beer brands across Canada.

Both beers are all natural, have no preservatives and are made according to the stringent Bavarian purity act.

"Only the finest imports and micro-breweries can boast that," adds Vellinga.

Both Lvivske and Slavutich have won awards. At the Toronto Wine and Cheese Show in 2005 they took the Gold and Bronze medals. In addition, the two Ukrainian beers have proven popular over the three years they've participated in the Toronto Beer Festival. Last year alone, about 1,000 litres (nearly 10,000 samples) of Slavutich and Lvivske were tasted.

"It's a fun event where people can try all sorts of different styles and brands of beer," says Vellinga. "They can figure out personally what brands they like best, rather than go by what the experts think."

Both beers are lagers made in the Pilsner style, yet have distinct taste profiles and have broad appeal to both beer aficionados and casual beer drinkers.

This year's Toronto Beer Festival could be one of the most successful ever.
