Softchoice Gives Customers Green Shipping Options

Customers Invited to Choose Consolidating Shipping to Green their Ordering Process

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 19, 2010) - Softchoice Corporation (TSX:SO), a leading North American provider of IT solutions and services, is pleased to announce a new green shipping option. Customers now have the ability to ship their orders 'complete' as opposed to when items become available. By consolidating orders in this way, organizations can reduce the environmental impact of the shipping process while realizing additional cost-savings through fewer overall orders. The new consolidated shipping option is the most recent example of Softchoice's focus on making it simple and cost-effective for customers to green their technology supply chain.

"As our focus on offering green delivery methods suggests, fostering sustainable approaches to business doesn't have to require additional investment," said Melissa Alvares, Sustainability Programs Manager for Softchoice. "In fact, with a little planning, we can make better use of our resources, saving time, money and risk to the planet in the process."

When an order is placed containing multiple items, customers can choose to have these items delivered as a single consolidated shipment instead of as they become available. Receiving items in one shipment means fewer deliveries overall, fewer invoices/delivery slips, and less freight packaging, adding up to a substantial reduction in the environmental footprint of the average technology order.

"In working with customers through our EcoTech Assessment we found that it is the low-hanging-fruit that is most often ignored when it comes to developing sustainability strategies," added Ms. Alvares. "As Green IT enablers we help customers see that it's the simple choices, like consolidated shipping, which often lead the way to big wins down the road."

When an item is required urgently, Softchoice provides prompt delivery by accessing a network of 30 state-of-the-art warehouses in locations across North America. This distribution model has the added environmental benefit of making it simple to find the shortest and most efficient route between the product and a given customer location.
