SolarWinds Orion Products Awarded High Honors From Redmond Magazine, Windows IT Pro and Austin Business Journal

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - November 19, 2009) - SolarWinds® (NYSE: SWI), a leading provider of powerful, simple and affordable network management software to more than 88,000 customers worldwide, today announced that its Orion® suite of products, Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM) and Orion IP SLA Manager (IP SLA) received four industry accolades combined, representing the opinions of editors and readers alike.

"SolarWinds is honored to receive these awards. Knowing that the IT community believes that Orion continues to exceed expectations is great recognition for our whole team. We feel strongly that our unique development model, coupled with our commitment and relationship to the community, allows us to continue to deliver products that will have immediate impact on our users' day to day activities." -- Kenny Van Zant, SVP and chief product strategist, SolarWinds

2009 Reader's Choice Awards from Redmond magazine

SolarWinds Network Management Software and Orion NPM were named the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Winners and Preferred Products in Redmond magazine's 2009 Reader's Choice Awards "Best Network Management Product" and "Best Performance Management Product" categories, respectively.

For the second year in a row, SolarWinds was chosen by Redmond's readers as the best ISV performance management product over HP OpenView®. The full list of winners can be viewed in the November issue and online.

"This year, we greatly increased the breadth and depth of our categories and product candidates to reflect new technologies and the growing number of choices in the technology industry," said Lee Pender, executive editor of Redmond, who coordinated the 2009 awards process. "Once again our readers spoke loudly and clearly in making their choices. We had a total number of responses that was much greater than last year's, which is an indication of the passion readers have for these products and the importance that these technologies hold in their jobs every day."

Windows IT Pro Magazine "2009 Editors' Best Awards" and "2009 Community Choice Awards"

SolarWinds Orion NPM was recognized by both the Editors and readers of Windows IT Pro Magazine this year, securing Silver medal recognition in both awards' "Best Network Management Product" categories.

Supporting Quotes:

"The 2009 Editors' Best Awards are an accumulation of our editors', contributors' and authors' subject matter expertise, in service of identifying the year's most significant products in the market," said Michele Crockett, editorial strategy director, Windows IT Pro Magazine. "We believe that our editorial experts' annual tradition of selecting winners based on a product's strategic importance to market, its competitive advantages and its value to the customer is particularly significant to the Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine communities this year, as we call out exceptional products in a highly competitive market.

"The 2009 Community Choice Awards had a record number of entries this year. Thousands of products were nominated by our audience of IT professionals. Peer-to-peer product and service recognition is the ultimate goal that all market players have, but it can be difficult to achieve," said Crockett.

Austin Business Journal 2009 Tech Innovation Awards

The Austin Business Journal selected Orion IP SLA Manager as the "Software" winner in its Tech Innovation Awards. The award recognized SolarWinds recently released Orion IP SLA Manager for the product's ability to give network engineers easier access to the IP SLA technology already available to them -- offering greater visibility into WAN performance, freeing up bandwidth and alleviating network management headaches.
