Solidcore Enhances BMC Software Business Service Management With Real-Time Endpoint Control

Delivers 'Right-Click' Integration With BMC Atrium CMDB to Speed Incident Repair and Enforce Change Blackout Periods

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwire - October 31, 2007) - BMC UserWorld Americas -- At the 2007 BMC UserWorld Conference, Solidcore® Systems, Inc., a leading provider of real-time change control software and BMC MarketZone partner, today announced a "right-click" integration of its S3 Control™ software with BMC Software's Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The integration improves BMC Software Business Service Management with real-time visibility into configuration item (CI) changes and the capability to enforce a change blackout period by blocking unauthorized change on the infrastructure -- all from a view of BMC's Atrium CMDB.

The BMC Atrium CMDB is an intelligent data repository that aligns disparate IT functions and consolidates IT datasets to provide a single source of truth about the IT environment. The CMDB enables IT organizations to define and store information about CIs, and provides a consistent approach for incident, problem and service impact management. Solidcore's S3 Control software extends these capabilities by allowing IT process users to right-click on CIs within a view of the BMC Atrium CMDB to quickly identify relevant, real-time change information. This helps users quickly identify the root-cause of IT service incidents. IT process users can also leverage Solidcore S3 Control to enforce a change blackout period, blocking unauthorized changes to selected CIs by marking a CI unavailable for changes in the CMDB interface.

"A key success factor to any CMDB is being able marry the desired state of the infrastructure with the discovered state," said Andi Mann, research director with leading analyst firm Enterprise Management Associates (EMA). "Solidcore further enhances BMC's Atrium CMDB by allowing users to import CI change data directly from within the CMDB. This forensic data combined with Solidcore's automated interdiction of unauthorized changes is a key step to assuring the Atrium CMDB represents the actual state of the IT environment."

Leading BMC Reseller Spearheads Solidcore Deployments

Column Technologies, a leading provider of BMC Software infrastructure management solutions and BMC Software 2006 Partner of the Year, has standardized on reselling Solidcore's S3 Control™ software with BMC Software's Business Service Management solutions. As a Solidcore Solidified-for-Change partner, Column Technologies will lead the deployment of Solidcore's S3 Control software with BMC Atrium CMDB installations.

"Solidcore continues to be an instrumental partner and we are excited about continuing our work with them to provide real change control and compliance reporting," said David Savino, vice president of technical services for Column Technologies. "Our customers want to understand the intersection between change management, auditing recommendations and the CMDB. We see Solidcore's real-time change tracking and prevention capabilities as a realistic method to implement proper checks and balances between IT process and infrastructure activities."

Solidcore's integration with the BMC Atrium CMDB extends the company's existing BMC MarketZone partnership and interoperability with the BMC Remedy Change Management and Service Desk solutions. Solidcore's S3 Control software interoperates with the BMC Remedy Change Management solution to help customers ensure only changes approved through the BMC Remedy Change Management solution are deployed on production systems and that specific maintenance windows are enforced. Solidcore can also highlight differences in changes deployed in staging and production environments, and create an exception report that lists any extra and missing changes.

"For incident management and problem resolution, IT personnel must obtain detailed information about what changed on the infrastructure as quickly as possible," said Bob Vieraitis, vice president of marketing for Solidcore. "Solidcore's integration with the BMC Atrium CMDB gives IT organizations a new framework for knowing exactly what's changing across the IT environment and the control to block out-of-process change that can cause compliance and availability risks."
