Sony Ericsson Reveals Competitions Tab Success

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - June 18, 2010) - Sony Ericsson Facebook page members have been eager to take part in the regular competitions recently, judging by the overall entry figure of just under 30,000 since the beginning of April.

The Facebook page is currently a hive of competition activity, including a number of giveaways to fans of coveted, technologically pioneering handsets such as the Xperia™ X10. Using a Facebook tab, the Sony Ericsson team regularly submits competitions where members of the page can answer a simple question to be in with a chance of becoming one of the lucky winners of each competition.

The most popular competition to date, to win one of seven Xperia™ X10 handsets, received just under 10,000 entries. Winners of the prizes were selected at random, and announced as winners on the Sony Ericsson Facebook page.

Ben Padley, VP, Head of Digital and CRM at Sony Ericsson, commented: "We keep our Facebook page constantly updated with new competitions and promotions, as well as content from the Sony Ericsson YouTube channel. Users can also find our content on our new Sony Ericsson Twitter stream.

"With Sony Ericsson being involved in so many sporting events, we love to keep our fans involved too, therefore we'll soon be offering the chance to win a trip to Sweden for the WTA (Women's Tennis Association) Tournament in July to our faithful fans."

Sony Ericsson runs competitions through social media on a regular basis, such as The South African Wave, which offers users the chance to get their hands on one of the official match balls to be used at the FIFA World Cup™ this summer. Fans can get involved by visiting the "South African Wave" tab on the Sony Ericsson Facebook page.
