Spending and Saving 101: One-day Financial Workshop for Young Adults Covers the Basics

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 3, 2010) - Basic financial concepts such as saving, budgeting, using credit wisely, investing and financial planning are all covered in a single day at the Financial Basics Workshop for adults aged 18 to 29. The workshop, to be offered February 7 at George Brown College in downtown Toronto (290 Adelaide St. E.), is led by Toronto Star columnist and financial author Ellen Roseman, and presented by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) (http://www.fcac-acfc.gc.ca/) and the Investor Education Fund (IEF) (http://www.getsmarteraboutmoney.ca/Pages/default.aspx).

In its second year, the new one-day format condenses last year's three sessions and presents new material in an interactive way. At the end of the workshop, students take away a booklet of useful templates, reference lists, and tip sheets covering a number of basic financial concepts.

The session runs from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. To register, visit coned.georgebrown.ca/money.
