Spicy Pickle™ Announces Opening of 37th Spicy Pickle Location

New Location Now Open in San Diego; San Diego Franchisee Identifies and Signs Lease for Second Location

DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - April 25, 2008) - Spicy Pickle™ (OTCBB: SPKL) fast-casual restaurants announced today that its San Diego franchisee, with a 12 restaurant development package, has opened his first Spicy Pickle™ restaurant in downtown San Diego, and signed a lease for a second restaurant in the North County San Diego area.

The new restaurant is located at 303 W. Beech Street on the ground floor of a condominium project known as Aperture. It is on the corner of Beech Street and Union Street just off of the area known as Little Italy. The restaurant opened on Sunday, April 20, 2008.

The newly leased space for the second restaurant will be located on an end cap in the Melrose Center at S. Melrose Drive and Sycamore Avenue in Vista, CA. The space is in a retail strip mall currently being developed. Delivery is expected in early 2009. The Beech Street restaurant is the second operating Spicy Pickle™ restaurant in the San Diego area. The first is located in Poway, CA and opened in the summer of 2005.

Marc Geman, CEO of Spicy Pickle Franchising, Inc., commented: "Similar to our Michigan developer, our San Diego developer has trained personnel available to ensure a successful opening. Such was the case with this restaurant. I was amazed at the number of people who found us simply because they were walking the neighborhood of several condominium projects, mixed retail, and some office space. The demographic was spot on for our customer. The newly opened restaurant was steady all day Sunday at the opening and then filled for lunch and dinner on Monday and Tuesday.

"It has been two and one half years since we opened Poway. We took our time putting the right franchisee in place and locating the first restaurant under that development agreement. Our patience is definitely paying dividends and will continue to increase the rate of restaurant openings in San Diego County. And of course the more restaurants the more marketing and distribution efficiencies we will recognize making the operations that much more profitable."

Jason Cox, the Spicy Pickle franchisee, commented: "We are very pleased with the walk in traffic we are seeing even before our catering and marketing efforts are put in place. Now that we have our feet wet we will be looking for additional locations even before the Melrose Center is available. We see a great future for Spicy Pickle™ in San Diego and are glad to be a part of the development."
