St Andrew Announces That Jacques Perron Starts as President and Chief Executive Officer on October 1, 2007 and Appointed Director

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 1, 2007) - St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. (TSX:SAS) ("St Andrew") is pleased to announce that Jacques Perron has commenced his duties as President and Chief Executive Officer today October 1, 2007 and has also been appointed a Director of the Company.

Jacques joins Louis Gignac, formerly President and CEO of Cambior Inc., on the Board of St Andrew. Dr Gignac joined the St Andrew Board on September 4, 2007.

Glenn Laing is stepping down as President and Chief Executive and will remain a director of the Company.

Mr. Perron was previously employed by IAMGOLD Corporation as its Senior Vice President, Americas. Mr. Perron, age 46, has nearly 25 years of mining and operating experience.

Mr. Perron obtained his B.Sc. in mining engineering at l'Ecole Polytechnique in 1984 and until 2000 he held engineering or management positions with Noranda Inc., J.S.Redpath Ltd and Cambior Inc. Following the acquisition of the Cambior Quebec base metal assets by Breakwater Resources, he was appointed General Manager of Breakwater's Quebec Operations. Between 2001 and 2004, he managed all business activities at the Campbell Mine for Placer Dome Inc. and subsequently the Key Lake/McArthur River operations, followed by the BPEP project (business process enhancement project) for the uranium producer, Cameco Corporation. In 2004, he returned to Cambior Inc. as Vice President, Canada and was in charge of the Canadian assets including three gold mines and one niobium operation. When IAMGOLD Corporation acquired Cambior Inc. in 2006, the South American operations were added to his responsibilities.

St Andrew is a gold mining and exploration company with operations in Timmins, Ontario and Alaska, USA. St Andrew controls a very large land position in the Timmins Mining Camp, an extensive land position at Eskay Creek in northern British Columbia and land positions around Nixon Fork in the Kuskokwim-Tintina Mining Camp in Alaska. St Andrew also holds an approximate 50.2 % equity interest in New Zealand based gold explorer, Glass Earth Limited and a 19.99 % equity interest in Apollo Gold Corporation.
