Star Gold to Commence Its Drilling Program on the Company's Excalibur Property, Mineral County, Nevada

POST FALLS, ID--(Marketwire - April 15, 2010) -  Star Gold Corp. (OTCBB: SRGZ)

Star Gold Corporation is pleased to announce its decision to proceed with a drill program on its Excalibur Property located in Mineral County, Nevada. The project includes three gold and silver targets hosted within a sequence of Triassic age sediments intruded by Tertiary age volcanic rock.

These targets were partially defined by a previous exploration group over ten years ago. Together with the completion of a detailed geological mapping and sampling program during 2009 by Star Gold, the new drilling targets have been identified.

This work, in conjunction with the historic exploration efforts have helped define higher grade gold values with ranges of 7 to 12 g/t and silver values with ranges of 90 to 350 g/t occurring in veins, and low grade gold with values ranging from 0.3 g/t to 3.5 g/t occurring within silicified breccias in potentially bulk minable configurations.

It should also be noted that there is no assurance that Star Gold Corp will be able to attain these gold and silver values from its proposed drilling program, and results will vary significantly.

Lindsay Gorrill, President of Star Gold has stated, "That the Company is very excited about commencing its drilling program on our Excalibur Property after spending almost two years acquiring the claims, performing initial exploration work, and analyzing all the data."

The Excalibur Project is situated near the center of the Walker Lane Trend. This trend hosts such significant deposits as the Goldfield District with 5.9 million ounces of gold production on the south end of the trend, and the Comstock District with historic production of 8.4 million ounces of gold; and 193.5 million ounces of silver from the north end.

The company intends to concentrate on two of the three identified mineralized zones. Although others previously discovered the various targets, they remained poorly explored because of a lack of understanding of the geology and ore model. Recent breakthroughs in geological concepts in the immediate area, work by Star Gold geologists and the compilation of historic data has identified new targets within a historic mining district.

Star Gold intends to initially drill three to four drill holes, with drilling to begin in mid-spring as weather permits.
