Start-Up Medical Device Manufacturer ALung Technologies, Inc. Launches Plex Online

System to Enable Growth by Supporting Clinical Trials and Commercialization of Innovative Product

AUBURN HILLS, MI--(Marketwire - June 17, 2010) -  Plex Systems, Inc., provider of Plex Online, the No. 1 rated manufacturing ERP software, today announced that respiratory assist technology pioneer ALung Technologies, Inc. has selected Plex Online as its manufacturing enterprise resource planning (ERP) software provider.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based company is a leader in the development of respiratory assist technologies that are expected to provide a superior alternative to traditional, invasive respiratory support. ALung is currently performing a clinical trial of its Hemolung™ Respiratory Assist System in Europe. It expects to begin a U.S.-based pivotal trial in 2011 to support FDA approval of the Hemolung™.

"We are preparing to grow our business, so we need to grow from an ERP standpoint as well," said ALung Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Frank Falcione. "We want to put something in place that we know will address our current and future needs."

Plex Online will be launched in phases. Documentation-related functionality will be implemented first, followed by purchasing, financials, quality, and then all other functions. ALung and Plex Systems are currently finalizing the implementation plan and timing.

"Plex Online is the only solution available that offers everything we need, and it is the most cost effective," noted Falcione. "Because of its built-in redundancy, the system enables us to systematically meet the electronic signature and documentation requirements of FDA Part 11."

"We are pleased that this innovative global start-up company has chosen Plex Online," said Plex Systems CEO and President Mark Symonds. "We look forward to enabling ALung to meet its rigorous compliance requirements while achieving powerful business results enterprisewide."
