Statement by the Honourable Gary Lunn, Minister of State (Sport), on the Occasion of a World Cup Skeleton Event

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 9, 2009) - Canadian athletes gave stellar performances at a World Cup skeleton event on the weekend.

On December 4, Jon Montgomery won a World Cup skeleton event on the 2006 Turin Olympics track with a time of 55.54 seconds. Jeff Pain and Mellisa Hollingsworth won bronze in their respective races.

As Minister of State (Sport) and on behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to congratulate all the medallists and all the other Canadian athletes who participated in these competitions. Your hard work and dedication are producing great results. As Canadians everywhere look forward to cheering on our athletes at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games, I have no doubt that we will "Own the Podium" in less than 70 days.
