Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Death of Haydain Neale

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 25, 2009) -

It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of Canadian musician Haydain Neale.

Mr. Neale made an important contribution to the Canadian music scene. In 2006, he served as the president of the Songwriters Association of Canada. He won the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) award for best R&B recording in 2005, and an Urban Music Award for songwriter of the year in 2004. Mr. Neale was perhaps best known as the creative influence behind Jacksoul, the successful Canadian R&B group that won two JUNO Awards for R&B/soul recording of the year, one in 2001 and one in 2007.

I join with Canadians in expressing my deepest sympathy to Mr. Neale's family and friends.
