Statement: Minister Toews and Kenney Applaud Removal of Serious Criminal From Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 27, 2010) - The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety and the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, issued the following statement today regarding the successful removal of Parminder Singh Saini by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

"We would like to congratulate the CBSA officials who were instrumental in removing Parminder Singh Saini from our country. Saini is a convicted criminal who was declared a danger to the public by the Government of Canada. This government is committed to protecting the safety and security of Canadians. Saini's removal is ultimately a victory for the rule of law, the integrity of our immigration system, and the safety and security of Canadians. The removal of inadmissible individuals is key to maintaining the integrity of the immigration program and to ensuring fairness for those who live in this country lawfully."
