Strongbow Starts Drilling at Ponderosa, BC Completes Drilling at Nickel King and Skoonka Creek

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 4, 2007) - Strongbow Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SBW) announces that exploration drilling is underway at the Ponderosa gold property, British Columbia and that drilling programs at the Nickel King property, NWT and Skoonka Creek gold property, British Columbia are now complete.

An 800 m drilling program has commenced on the 6,950 ha Ponderosa property, located within the Spences Bridge gold belt, approximately 30 km southwest of the city of Merritt in southern British Columbia. In August 2007, Strongbow announced an agreement with Almaden Minerals Ltd. (TSX:AMM)(AMEX:AAU) providing Strongbow with the option to earn a 60% interest in the Ponderosa property by issuing to Almaden 1,050,000 shares and completing exploration expenditures of $4 million prior to December 31, 2012. In late August, Strongbow completed ground magnetic and bedrock mapping surveys as well as mechanized trenching of the Axel Ridge showing to better characterize the nature and attitude of quartz veining and related alteration discovered by Almaden in 2006. Surface chip sampling by Almaden returned 11.7 m grading 2.22 g/t Au, 10.0 m grading 1.50 g/t Au, and 6.6 m grading 2.83 g/t Au from three localities over a 77 m strike length of the showing. Current drilling will test the Axel Ridge gold showing over a strike length of approximately 300 m and should be completed by the end of October, 2007.

Drilling of the Skoonka Creek gold property (Strongbow 51% / Almaden 49%) is also now complete. The 3,200 m program started in early September (please see Strongbow news release #07-24, September 6, 2007) and tested the Deadwood (6 holes), Backburn Central (2 holes), Backburn East (2 holes), Ember (2 holes) and JJ (1 hole) showings. Moderate to strong zones of silicification and related clay alteration were identified in the drill holes testing the Deadwood and Ember targets.

A total of nine drill holes (1,750 m) were completed at Strongbow's 100% owned Nickel King property in southeastern Northwest Territories. The summer drilling program commenced in mid-August, 2007 (please see Strongbow news release #07-23, August 28, 2007). Four of the drill holes further defined sulphide nickel mineralization in the Main Zone, including two holes targeting borehole geophysical anomalies defined during the spring 2007 drilling program and two holes intended to test the southeastern extension of the Main Zone. The remaining five holes of the program tested the Koona, Ring, Kizan and South Kizan target areas. Weak to moderate disseminated sulphide mineralization was encountered within and adjacent to gabbroic intrusions in the Koona, Ring and Kizan targets.

Strongbow's 2007 exploration programs are conducted under the supervision of David Gale, P.Geo. (BC), Vice-President of Exploration for Strongbow and a Qualified Person within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101.
