Suncor Energy Foundation invests in wetland habitat in southern Ontario

Calgary, Alberta (August 10, 2006) - The Suncor Energy Foundation recently announced it will invest $45,000 over three years in wetland restoration in southern Ontario, where habitat comes at a premium.

The Foundation's commitment will be pooled with other funding sources to help Ducks Unlimited Canada complete up to 45 wetland projects in the first year alone.

"The Suncor Energy Foundation is pleased to invest in the conservation of wetland habitat as part of Suncor's commitment to responsible development," said Cathy Glover, manager, Suncor Energy Foundation. "The protection of water quality and quantity is one of the Foundation's environmental priorities."

Ducks Unlimited Canada's goal at the end of the three year funding commitment is to conserve up to 4,500 acres of wetland habitat through a variety of methods including working with landowners to restore wetlands on idle or marginal farmland.
