Suncor Energy completes maintenance at Oil Sands facility

Production returns to full capacity

Fort McMurray, Alberta (September 28, 2006) — Suncor Energy today reported the successful completion of maintenance on a coker fractionator at the company's oil sands facility. During the maintenance period, which began September 14, oil sands production was reduced by approximately 40%. Maintenance was substantially completed ahead of schedule on September 24 and production has now returned to full capacity.

Suncor does not currently expect the maintenance outage will impact its annual production target of 260,000 barrels per day. Production targets will be confirmed in the third quarter report to shareholders on October 26, 2006.
