Suncor Energy named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers

Calgary, Alberta (October 9, 2008) — Suncor Energy Inc. has been selected as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers in Mediacorp Canada Inc.'s annual competition recognizing employers that are industry leaders in attracting and retaining employees.

"We're thrilled to be selected as a top employer" said Sue Lee, Suncor's senior vice president, human resources and communications. "It's not an organization that makes it a great place to work; it's the people. And this award is a testament to the kind of workplace our people have created."

Specifically, the company was recognized for benefits that go above and beyond traditional compensation, including personal paid days off, educational tuition subsidies, a flexible health benefits plan, and scholarships awarded to employees' children.

"Suncor has a history of attracting and retaining talented people, and as we move forward on operational excellence and our expansion plans, finding innovative ways to meet the needs of today's and tomorrow's employees will play an increasingly important role," continued Lee.

To develop this year's Top 100 list, Mediacorp examined the recruitment histories of over 75,000 employers across Canada. Employers were then asked to complete an extensive application process that included a detailed review of their operations and HR practices. The Top 100 is featured in Maclean's magazine's October 4 edition.
