Suncor Energy pursues land options in Sturgeon County

Calgary, Alberta (December 13, 2006) — Suncor Energy Inc. today announced it is pursuing options for the purchase of land in Sturgeon County, northeast of Edmonton, Alberta.

The company has already secured options on several parcels and is beginning consultation with the community on land use planning in anticipation of potential future development as part of Suncor's long-term growth strategy, post 2012.

There currently are no firm plans for development of this property. The timelines for potential development have not yet been established and will, in part, be determined through consultation with the community, regulators, industry and other stakeholders.
