Suncor Energy receives top corporate social responsibility ranking

Calgary, Alberta (February 27, 2007) — Suncor Energy Inc. tied for first place in the oil and gas category of the Globe & Mail Report on Business Magazine's fourth annual Canadian corporate social responsibility ranking.

The magazine gave Suncor an A- grade for its sustainability efforts, highlighting the company's leadership in renewable energy development, its strong aboriginal relations programs and sustainability reporting efforts.

Michael Jantzi Research Associates created the ranking. The evaluations were based on performance in six categories: community and society, corporate governance, impact on customers, treatment of employees, the environment and human rights.

Suncor Energy Inc. is an integrated energy company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Suncor's oil sands business, located near Fort McMurray, Alberta, extracts and upgrades oil sands and markets refinery feedstock and diesel fuel, while operations throughout western Canada produce natural gas.
