Suncor Energy wins award for business excellence in Ontario

Toronto, Ontario (October 17, 2007) — Suncor Energy has been recognized by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce with an Outstanding Business Achievement Award. This award will be presented to Suncor on October 23 in Toronto, at a gala event to recognize business excellence in Ontario.

This award acknowledges Suncor's commitment to providing sustainable energy options for Ontario. In the past three years, Suncor has invested more than $1.4 billion in the province, including the development of Canada's largest ethanol production facility, upgrades to its Sarnia refinery and Sunoco retail sites, and the recent opening of Suncor's first wind power project in Ontario, a 76-megawatt facility on the eastern shores of Lake Huron.

"Sustainability is a core value for us, and it speaks to everything we do as a company," says Tom Ryley, executive vice president, refining and marketing. "We are pursuing the triple bottom line in Ontario - a strong economy, a healthy environment and the social well-being of our communities. We are pleased to accept this award that recognizes our commitment."
