Calgary, Alberta (November 13, 2006) — Suncor Energy employees and retirees in Canada and the U.S., supported by the Suncor Energy Foundation, contributed more than $2 million to 2006 United Way campaigns in communities where Suncor operates.

The total included a record $720,000 in contributions from employees at Suncor's oil sands facility to the United Way of Fort McMurray, along with an additional $150,000 from the Suncor Energy Foundation. These donations helped the community campaign reach its fundraising target of $2.5 million.

"We had another great year of enthusiastic involvement by employees across our business," said Cathy Glover, manager of the Suncor Energy Foundation. "Our employees and retirees are strong supporters of our communities and we are pleased to be giving back in this way."

Fundraising activities included a hockey tournament against Syncrude Canada Ltd. in Fort McMurray, a fun run, coffee mornings, a silent auction and raffles.
