Suncor leases space to house office overflow

400 employees to move into new building in the new year

Fort McMurray, Alberta (October 18, 2006) — Suncor Energy has secured space on the outskirts of Fort McMurray to help alleviate office overcrowding at the company's plant site.

Suncor has received a development permit from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to install offices in a newly leased building on Highway 63 North, across from the Tempo gas station and Suncor's diesel cardlock station. The building will provide additional office space for about 400 employees. The office location is expected to be temporary; permanent offices are expected to be constructed as part of Suncor's Voyageur upgrader project, which is currently in regulatory review.

The newly leased building requires significant renovations before employees can move in. Over the next few months the office space will be designed and the interior space constructed, with the move to the new facility expected to begin some time in the first quarter of 2007.  Suncor's community consultation office will also be moving into the new space from its current location in the River City Centre.
