Surveillance Industry Veteran and Network Video Expert, Dr. Michael Gilge, Joins Cradle Technologies Board of Directors

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 31, 2006 -- Cradle Technologies today announced the addition of Dr. Michael Gilge to its board of directors. As a pioneer developer of network video products for the security and surveillance industry, and a seasoned and successful entrepreneur, Dr. Gilge brings a great deal of technical experience, market knowledge, and financial acumen to complement Cradle's already strong board of directors.

As founder and CEO of VCS (Video Communication Systems), Gilge was one of the original developers of the concept of "video over network products" for the security industry in 1995. Dr. Gilge drove all aspects of business at VCS including engineering, finance, and sales and marketing, and created a valuable company that was sought after by several top-tier surveillance companies worldwide. Dr. Gilge later joined Bosch Security as a part of VCS' successful acquisition. His deep experience in building a company committed to video applications will benefit Cradle as they continue to expand their presence in the fast-growing video surveillance market and penetrate other media-processing market segments.

"Michael's wealth of technical and industry knowledge will provide us with a unique advantage in pursuing our company objectives, not only with the execution of existing product strategies but also in innovating future products," said Patrick Soheili, CEO and President of Cradle Technologies. "His insight into industry trends and his successful track record as a technologist and an entrepreneur bring immediate value to Cradle. We are extremely pleased Michael has accepted to join Cradle's board."

"It is exciting for me to be closely associated with a forward-looking company such as Cradle and to assist in their development of multimedia processing platforms," stated Dr. Gilge. "One of the early advocates of multi-core architectures for media-processing applications, Cradle has recognized the value of the multi-core approach and is one of the leaders in successfully applying this principle to video surveillance and other multimedia applications. Perhaps what impressed me the most with Cradle is their unique philosophy about the importance of creating a proper development environment and the related tools for their multi-core DSPs, and the significant investment the company has made in this area since its inception."

In 1995, Dr. Gilge founded VCS (Video Communication Systems), which was later bought by Bosch Security in 2004. Prior to that, he was head of a pre-development group of multimedia terminals and conferencing at Philips Communication Industries (now Lucent Technologies). Gilge has a post-doctoral fellowship at International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, California, and a PhD from Aachen University, Germany, as well as several other degrees and fellowships from Aachen University and Purdue University.
