Sutron's 2008 July Bookings Exceed 2007

STERLING, VA--(Marketwire - August 5, 2008) - Sutron Corporation (NASDAQ: STRN), America's leader in dependable, long-lasting real-time remote hydro-met and oceanic monitoring and warning systems, announced today that during July 2008 the company received bookings (purchase orders and contracts) totaling $1,621,574 to provide equipment, systems and services for a variety of water and weather monitoring and control projects throughout the world.

The highlights of the bookings are as follows:

-- Sutron signed two Annual Maintenance Contracts valued at $663,156 with
the Central Water Commission in India to provide maintenance for two Direct
Readout Satellite Ground Stations and 44 remote Data Collection Platforms
for a period of three years.

-- Sutron signed a "Blanket Purchase Contract" with the U.S. Geological
Survey for five years to provide Satellite Transmitters, Data Loggers and
Sensors. In July we received the first Purchase Order under this contract
in the amount of $306,051 for water level sensors and 100 Satlink2 GOES
    Transmitters in enclosures.

-- Sutron received Work Orders from the South Florida Water Management
District (SFWMD) valued at $136,938. "Sutron is very pleased to resume our
good relationship with the SFWMD," commented Dr. Raul McQuivey, Sutron's
President. "Over the last year the SFWMD conducted investigations on
several contractors. The Florida Inspector General's report last month
completely exonerated Sutron, and, as a result, we expect to compete for
and be awarded many more SFWMD Work Orders in the future."

-- Sutron received several orders from Canada totaling approximately
$100,000 for Satlink2 GOES Satellite Transmitters.

-- Finally, Sutron received additional Purchase Orders from 59 various
    Customers totaling just over $400,000.

July 2008 bookings exceeded July 2007 bookings by over $200,000. Historically, August and September are Sutron's strongest bookings months.
