Sydnee Michaels Declares Her Professional Status With LPGA at CN Canadian Women's Open, Winnipeg

TEMECULA, CA--(Marketwire - August 25, 2010) - 22 year old Sydnee Michaels, a recent 2010 UCLA Graduate and team captain for the UCLA Women's golf team has declared her professional status. Sydnee wrapped up her successful Amateur career with a 9 under par win at the Canadian Women's Amateur Championship earlier this summer. Her Professional debut will take place at LPGA Canadian Women's Open in Winnipeg, MB, Canada this week.

According to Sydnee, "I like golf because it is an individual sport and it is competitive. I am ecstatic to take the next step to pursue my future goals in golf."

After leaving high school as the league MVP as a senior in 2006, Sydnee Michaels has improved her game and strengthened her skills, and understands what dedication and hard work means for her future. Among her collegiate accomplishments on the UCLA Women's Golf Team, coached by Carrie Forsyth, include:

  • 4 year starter on the nationally top ranked UCLA Women's Golf Team
  • 2007 NCAA East Regional Champion (13 under par, UCLA and NCAA record)
  • 2008 Mason Rudolph NCAA Champion (11 under par)
  • 2 time NCAA Division I All-American
  • 2009-10 UCLA Women's Golf Team Captain
  • Played in 8 professional events as an amateur including 3 U.S. Women's Opens and the Kraft Nabisco Championship
  • 2010 Canadian Women's Amateur Champion (9 under par)
  • 2010 U.S. Women's Amateur Quarter-finalist
