TCS Receives Symbol Technologies' U.S. Enterprise Mobility Award

Company's 20/20 Delivery™ Solution Earns Honors for Mobile Workforce Management With National Healthcare Company Implementation

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 7, 2006 -- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a leading provider of mission-critical wireless data solutions, today announced the company was awarded Symbol Technologies' 2006 U.S. Enterprise Mobility Award. TCS was selected for its deployment of Symbol's MC9060 rugged mobile computers with TCS' 20/20 Delivery™ solution at a large national healthcare company.

The TCS 20/20 Delivery solution provides real-time status for deliveries and information on the location and delivery receipt of healthcare products, allowing the healthcare company to adopt a paperless system -- reducing costs and eliminating the need for storage of printed proof of delivery.

With TCS' precise Xypoint® Location Platform, 20/20 Delivery enterprise customers can track drivers and loads throughout the day. Location-based Services (LBS) software enables real-time asset tracking and delivery support. Additionally, it supports a wide array of specialized services, including in-field navigation, Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking and geo-fencing.

"This award from a market leader such as Symbol recognizes the benefits the 20/20 Mobility solution provides to our customers," said Maurice B. Tosé, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of TeleCommunication Systems. "We continue to offer innovative solutions to serve the market needs for mission-critical wireless data communications such as providing healthcare operators with a workflow edge and tracking capability that has not previously been available."

Symbol Technologies' third annual Enterprise Mobility Solutions Awards recognize the company's PartnerSelect members -- in each geographical region -- on their abilities to provide customers with the most innovative, end-to-end enterprise mobility systems to help accelerate growth, productivity and operational efficiencies. A select panel of judges from Microsoft, AMI Partners, Questex Asia, and editors from leading industry publications including Business Solutions, Channel Business, Data Collection, eWeek and MicroScope Magazine selected the winners from the United States and Americas International (Canada and Latin America), Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (APAC).
