PRIVATIZATION OF PUBLIC SERVICES Attention: Assignment Editor, Media Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO--(CCNMatthews - May 15, 2006) - Irene Harris, secretary-treasurer of the Ontario Federation of Labour will be in Thunder Bay on Tuesday, May 16 to meet with media outlets and activists to discuss the McGuinty government's ongoing drive for the privatization of public services here in Ontario.

"The Ontario government is privatizing key parts of our public services, including education and health care. Privatizing public services is not good policy,"Harris says. "We must stop it now."

"Dalton McGuinty can't be trusted. He says he's committed to preserving public services, but he supports projects like private ownership and management of up to 26 hospitals in Ontario," Harris said. "Privatizing public services won't make them more efficient or cheaper. Costs will go up and quality will go down."
