TIR Wins Best of Category Award for lexel'TM'

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA--(CCNMatthews - May 31, 2006) -

lexel™ Recognized by the Lighting Industry for Best System Product

TIR Systems Ltd. (TSX:TIR), announces that its lexel™ technology has won the Best Product award in the Systems category at Lightfair International 2006, the most prestigious lighting event in North America, which is held annually.

This award marks the third time in four years at this event that TIR has been recognized for its leadership in LED-based Solid State Lighting (SSL). The lexel™ was launched at Lightfair in 2005 and received an overwhelming response from the lighting designers and architects who specify lighting products as well as other light fixture manufacturers who are the primary customers for the technology.
