TTC Plans Open House for Kipling Station and Islington Station Improvements Projects

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 5, 2007) - Next year, the TTC will begin a 3-year construction project which will result in a wide range of improvements to both Kipling and Islington Stations. A Public Open House for these projects will be held on November 7, 2007.

Kipling Station will be redeveloped into a major transit hub with the participation of GO Transit and Mississauga Transit. Following the station redevelopment, Mississauga Transit and GO Transit bus services will operate from a new 14-bay inter-regional bus terminal at Kipling Station. New entrances and expanded passenger pick-up and drop-off facilities will improve station access. Existing commuter parking lots will be reconfigured and replacement lots constructed on Kipling Avenue and Aukland Road.

Islington Station will be redeveloped with a new TTC bus terminal, new entrances and an expanded passenger pick-up and drop-off facility. New elevators will provide full accessibility to all levels of the station.

Overall, these projects will result in more convenient pedestrian and private auto access, improved passenger flow and circulation, and more efficient bus operations.
