Takeru Kobayashi New World Record

The Competitive Eating Legend Eats 41 Lobster Rolls to Win The World Lobster Roll Championship

BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 23, 2006 -- Takeru Kobayashi, the world's greatest competitive eater, set a new world record by eating 41 lobster rolls in Boston on Saturday. Three and half minutes into the World Lobster Eating Challenge, Kobayashi had already downed twenty-two lobster rolls and he could have stopped there. A team of four eaters, collectively managed just 25 rolls in failing to push Kobayshi throughout the ten-minute contest. It's another milestone for the Japanese star who has never been defeated in the U.S. since turning professional in 1998. He takes home a prize of $10,000 in winning the World Lobster Eating Challenge.

It's a rare appearance in the U.S. for Kobayashi who generally stays close to Tokyo with the exception of his yearly trip to Coney Island to take on the Americans in Hot Dogs where he has eaten 53 1/2 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes. His slim frame and introverted nature give no hint into the eating machine that lies within and many feel that has a lot to do with the mystique and global popularity he enjoys.

In an earlier contest on Saturday, a group of amateur eaters tried for $100,000 in the Amateur Challenge. Anyone who broke the 15 Grilled Cheese sandwiches mark would take home the prize money. None of the amateurs got past five. is the web's ultimate resource for individuals learning casino games.
