Team San Jose Makes Charitable Contribution to Groups Displaced by Hurricane Katrina

Association of Pet Dog Trainers First Group to Relocate to San Jose

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 19, 2005 -- Team San José (TSJ), operator of the San José Convention & Cultural Facilities, announced today that it will make a charitable contribution to the organization of choice for any displaced group that relocates from New Orleans to San José.

Since New Orleans announced the cancellation of citywide meetings through March 2006, San José has been assisting groups to find space that accommodates their needs. The first group to relocate its meeting to San José was the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, whose 12th Annual Educational Conference and Training was held from September 14th through the 18th, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, the San Jose Marriott Hotel and the Hilton San Jose & Towers.

The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), which drew close to 800 people, is expected to give its $1,000 TSJ contribution to the New Orleans Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NO-SPCA).

"We are pleased with how smoothly we transitioned our convention to San José," said Teoti Anderson, CPDT and President for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. "San José was able to accommodate our attendees and exhibitors in a short period of time, and they are also contributing dollars to a worthy cause."

The Team San José governance model, which brings local hoteliers, labor unions, the arts and the San José Convention & Visitors Bureau together, creates a cooperative environment that allows for more innovative, flexible and tailored meeting programming.

"Early on, the San José hospitality community discussed ways to aid those affected by Hurricane Katrina," said Clifton Clark, Board Member for Team San Jose and General Manager of the San Jose Marriott. "The collaborative partnership that forms Team San José has made it possible for us to work quickly to accommodate short-term bookings like those groups affected by Katrina."
