Telco Systems Announces Roadmap for Circuit Emulation Strategy

FOXBORO, MA--(Marketwire - April 29, 2008) - Telco Systems, a BATM company and a leading provider of Carrier Ethernet access solutions, today announced intentions to expand upon its current circuit emulation service (CES) offerings based on Resolute Networks' field-proven, innovative CES technology.

As an early adopter of CES technology, Telco Systems integrated Resolute Networks' standards-compliant, field-proven, pseudowire CES functionality into its T-Marc and T-Metro products in 2005 to create a line of highly integrated, cost-efficient CES gateways. "With the acquisition of Resolute Networks by BATM Advanced Communications earlier this year, Telco Systems will be able to accelerate the integration of leading edge CES technologies into its Carrier Ethernet access solutions," stated Tal Gilad, Director of Product Management.

Resolute Networks' CES technology supports T1/E1, T3/E3 and OC-3/STM-1, flexible clocking strategies and carrier-grade synchronization support while maintaining service resilience in a wide variety of real-world network environments. "Resolute Networks has established a formidable track record in delivering unique yet standards-compliant solutions for circuit emulation applications," states Brian Bortz, Chief Executive Officer of BATM owned Resolute Networks. "BATM Advanced Communications' strong reputation and leading market position will effectively enable Resolute to accelerate its rate of innovation and market penetration even further." Resolute's circuit emulation and synchronization over packet technologies are based on all the relevant standards bodies including IETF, ITU, IEEE, MEF and CableLabs.

Service providers can increase enterprise cost-efficiency and productivity by offering a combined voice and data network to business users who want to protect their investments in robust, fully-featured TDM equipment yet enjoy the benefits of a high-performance Carrier Ethernet network. Circuit emulation technology addresses this requirement by placing TDM interfaces side by side with high capacity Carrier Ethernet services. Incumbent operators can utilize their lucrative E1/T1 services while converging their underlying transport infrastructure on new, high-performance, cost-effective Ethernet, IP and MPLS technologies. Alternative operators, including Multi-Service Operators (MSOs), which primarily use packet switched infrastructure, can utilize CES to offer high value TDM services, while leveraging their new high-performance, packet-based networks. Subscribers benefit not only from additional high-speed services but also by being able to purchase a service package based on one cost-effective access link with simplified billing, allowing them to achieve toll quality voice connectivity with all the functionality developed around E1/T1 over the last several decades. TDM services based on CES also have advantages for the cellular backhaul market, allowing the transport of the Radio Access Network over cost-effective and bandwidth rich Carrier Ethernet.
