Most recently the CSRIC has been putting particular emphasis on addressing broadband and other advanced technologies, including options to ensure the availability of communications capacity during natural disasters, terrorist attacks or other events that result in exceptional strain on the country's communications infrastructure. The committee is also investigating methods to best ensure and facilitate the rapid restoration of communications services in the event of widespread or major disruptions.

"The scope and timing of the CSRIC's work is becoming ever more critical as the need for a coordinated architectural design becomes increasingly evident and complex with new technologies, services and applications emerging and security and vulnerability issues expanding," said Dr. Drobot. "Telcordia's rich heritage of solving complex, national-scale network challenges will lend itself well in helping to 'crisis-proof' our nation's communications infrastructure."
