Telecom Cook Islands Celebrates Cutover of New ADC UltraWave GSM Softswitch

Streamlined, Integrated UltraWave Solution Reduces Costs and Enables New Services, Including SMS, Voicemail, GPRS and Prepaid Calling

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - January 13, 2008) - ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) (www.adc.com) today announced that Telecom Cook Islands Ltd. has completed commercial deployment of its UltraWave GSM softswitch.

The new softswitch -- which upgrades the carrier's core wireless network to more efficient, IP-based technology in order to reduce costs and enable value-added services such as integrated SMS, voice mail, GPRS and prepaid calling -- has been in deployment since September of 2007, and the final network cutover was accomplished last week. The network upgrade enabled by the UltraWave GSM softswitch includes an overall expansion of the network's capacity from 8,000 to 15,000 subscribers along with new services such as prepaid calling, SMS, voicemail, and GPRS data.

"ADC has enabled us to offer a better service network to more customers," said Stuart Davies, CEO at Telecom Cook Islands. "With this equipment, we can now offer our customers a suite of network services that compares favorably with those of any location in the South Pacific."

ADC is a leading provider of compact, fully integrated mobile network systems for remote areas such as the Cook Islands. The UltraWave GSM Softswitch has completely upgraded the core network at Telecom Cook Islands, enabling more efficient and cost-effective delivery of features such as MSC/VLR, HLR, prepaid, voicemail, SMS and AuC for roaming support.

"Our acquisition of LGC Wireless supplements our IP RAN strategy by adding advanced mobile network systems like the UltraWave GSM to our portfolio," said Hilton Nicholson, president of the Network Solutions Business Unit at ADC. "When combined with our FlexWave™ base station, Universal Radio Head, and WiMAX products, LGC's network systems and DAS products give us the ability to serve all carrier and enterprise needs with a fully integrated portfolio under a unified management system."
