NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - February 16, 2010) -

Key Highlights:

  • Latest expansion at Telx's Los Angeles facility increases footprint by 40 percent.
  • One-third of the new space pre-sold.
  • This high power density expansion provides customers with comprehensive colocation and interconnection facilities, ideally suited for media and entertainment, enterprise, software-as-a-service, and cloud providers.

Telx, the leading interconnection and colocation provider in strategic North American markets, today announced that it has expanded the footprint of its colocation facility at 600 West 7th Street in Los Angeles by 40 percent. As a result, Telx now offers customers an even higher density colocation and interconnection facility in the key market of downtown Los Angeles. With one-third of the expansion pre-sold, this latest data center expansion underscores demand within the Los Angeles area for premier colocation and interconnection services.

The 600 West 7th Street facility offers direct connections to a wide variety of carriers, service providers, enterprises, media and entertainment firms, gaming companies and financial services providers. In addition, customers can directly connect to most other downtown colocation facilities. With a larger facility, existing Telx customers can expand their services, while Telx also has additional capacity to add new customers.

"Our Los Angeles facility is a strategically located, high-density connectivity hub that can immediately meet the latency, security and services requirements of the most demanding cloud computing, media and entertainment, gaming and financial services environments," said Eric Shepcaro, CEO of Telx. "As demand for colocation space on the West Coast continues to increase, Telx remains committed to helping our customer base reduce the cost of network expansion and increase speed to market."

One company taking advantage of Telx's Los Angeles facility is Tierzero, a leader in hosted communications based in Los Angeles, Calif. "Telx's additional space at 600 West 7th Street allows Tierzero to quickly and cost-effectively expand our services," said John Carter, CEO of Tierzero. "The facility enables us to locate our network equipment in close proximity to carriers and IP services -- eliminating connectivity hops, reducing latency, as well as improving our Communications-as-a-Service delivery to customers."

The additional space at 600 West 7th Street will include Telx's industry-leading security, power and cooling systems to ensure optimal reliability and up-time for customers. The new space is available immediately. For more information on space in 600 West 7th Street in Los Angeles, please contact
