Terra Energy Provides Organizational Update

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2010) - Terra Energy Corp. (TSX:TT) ("Terra Energy" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. James F. (Jim) Wong to its Board of Directors. In addition to the Board of Directors, Mr. Wong will serve on the Corporate Governance, Compensation and Nominating Committee of the Board.

Mr. Wong is a fourth generation Canadian, born and educated in Alberta, Canada. Mr. Wong has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta. Mr. Wong has extensive industry experience spanning over forty years and today has a focus on energy development and relationships between Canada and Asia.

In addition to his industry experience, Mr. Wong is a former Chair and Director of the Canadian Exporter's Association, Alberta Chapter, a former Director of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, former Chair of the Canada-China Business Council, Alberta Chapter, a member of the Hong Kong Business Association, a founding Director of the China National Petroleum Corp. (Canada) and SinoCanada Corp., Managing Director of Zenalta Management Ltd., a recipient of the Asia Pacific Award "Bridge Builder of the Pacific" from the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association, a recipient of the Alberta Government Centennial Medal (2005), an advisor to the China Petroleum Planning & Engineering Institute in Beijing and a director of the China Alberta Petroleum Center in Beijing.

Recent Management Changes

Mr. Allan Bertram has joined the Company and has agreed to act as Vice President of Exploitation for the Provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Mr. Bertram is a professional engineer with over fifteen years of industry experience. Mr. Bertram did serve as an evaluations engineer at one of the major petroleum engineering firms in Calgary and is a member of APEGGA. Mr. Bertram brings significant experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams in horizontal drilling and waterflood techniques. Mr. Bertram reports to Mr. Tony Sabelli, Executive Vice President for Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Mr. Michael Doty has agreed to join the Company, effective February 1, 2010, as Senior Geophysicist. Mr. Doty received a B.Sc. in Geophysics in 1985 and has been instrumental in the discovery of numerous Western Canadian oil and gas pools. Mr. Doty will report to Mr. John Behr, Vice President of Exploration.

Mr. Michael Haug has been appointed to the position of Area Land Manager for British Columbia. Mr. Haug joined the Company in 2005, and has industry experience dating back to 1976. Mr. Haug has held various positions in land beginning with CDC Oil & Gas Ltd. and Canterra Energy Ltd, as well as management positions in marketing with Canterra Energy Ltd. and Husky Energy.

Mr. Paul Lyzaniwski has joined the Company as Area Land Manager for Alberta. He is a Petroleum Landman with over 18 years of progressive experience in mineral land negotiations together with extensive acquisitions and divestment experience in the petroleum industry. Mr. Lyzaniwski's responsibilities in various land departments have increased over time ranging from Supervisor Contracts with Canadian Natural Resources Limited to Senior Area Negotiator with Compton Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Lyzaniwski attended the University of Regina, Economics and is an active member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.

Mr. Jeff Pike has joined the Company as Manager of Land Administration and Records. Mr. Pike has a B. Comm. and a B. Ed. from Dalhousie University, together with a LL.B. from Dalhousie Law School. Mr. Pike, whose work history includes several major industry players, brings to the Company over 30 years of industry experience in areas of land administration, contracts, A&D and negotiations. Mr. Pike is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.

Mr. Kevin Wolters has joined the Company as Manager, Land Contracts and A&D. Mr. Wolters has over 14 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, with particular expertise in contract analysis and drafting, A&D and freehold mineral rights. Mr. Wolters holds a B. Comm. from the University of Calgary (1988) and an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia (1991).

In addition to the forgoing, Mr. Dean Morrison has resigned from his position as Vice President, Corporate Affairs in order to pursue another opportunity. The Board of Directors and Management of Terra Energy extend their best wishes to Mr. Morrison for his continued success.
