Tesco Mobile Scoops Prestigious 'Tariff of the Year' Award

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 10, 2009) - Tesco Mobile, one of Britain's fastest growing mobile providers, has won 'Tariff of the Year' for its Pay Monthly service at this year's prestigious Mobile Choice awards, announced on 8 October 2009.

The Mobile Choice awards are given out each year by one of the UK's leading mobile phone magazines, a completely independent and highly respected voice within the industry. Beating off competition from the likes of 3 Mix & Match, Virgin Mobile and T-Mobile Flext, the judges said Tesco Mobile's Pay Monthly tariff was "a stunning offer."

In giving the award to Tesco Mobile, Mobile Choice commented:

Tesco Mobile's award-winning Pay Monthly tariff starts at just Pounds Sterling 10 a month and goes up in Pounds Sterling 5 increments to a limit of Pounds Sterling 30, when customers can switch over to the Unlimited tariff. Customers receive Pounds Sterling 40 credit for every Pounds Sterling 10 they spend, which can be used for call, texts, picture messaging or browsing.

If customers find they need more credit, they can top-up; however, you can also choose to have your usage capped when the month's credit has been used up, a useful feature for those wanting to stick to a budget. Customers also benefit from half-price calls and texts to 5 favourite numbers, and only have a one-month (30 day) commitment.

Tesco Mobile was launched in 2003 with a range of popular Pay As You Go mobile phones; Pay Monthly services and mobile phones were introduced in October 2008.
