Thanks to its technology that offers alternative to landfill of organic waste - $21.6 million with the City of Toronto to process organic waste into compost for Conporec

SOREL-TRACY, Oct. 5 - Conporec Inc. (TSX VENTURE:CNP)
announced today it has signed a three-year, $12.5 million contract with the
City of Toronto, with an additional two-year option valued at $9.1 million.
The contract is for the transportation and processing of organic waste into
compost by Conporec Inc. Effective immediately, the agreement provides for the
processing of 35,000 tonnes per year (tpy), with a guaranteed minimum of
25,000 tonnes per year.

This agreement comes in the wake of a pilot project initiated in 2004
with the City of Toronto to measure the performance of Conporec's technology
as applied to source-separated organics. In light of the successful results
achieved by Conporec's technology from an economic and environmental
standpoint, the City of Toronto has awarded Conporec a contract of up to five
years to process the material. "This important contract confirms Conporec's
role as a world leader in providing the best available technologies for the
treatment of municipal waste based on principles of sustainable development,"
said Jean Beaudoin, President and CEO of Conporec.

This contract confirms the promising potential of the organic waste
market, and allows Conporec to expand its business base beyond the mixed solid
waste market in which it already boasts a solid track record. In addition to
its existing Sorel-Tracy facility, with a 35,000 tpy capacity, Conporec
recently delivered its second facility, located in New York State (US)
(42,000 tpy) and has a third plant under construction in suburban Paris
(France) (65,000 tpy). "This contract with the City of Toronto paves the way
for similar agreements with municipalities in Canada looking to transform
organic waste into a value-added and marketable product," Mr. Beaudoin added.
This contract will be implemented at new premises, and will use the
technologies developed by Biomax Inc., a company recently acquired by

With this contract, Conporec reaches another milestone of its business
plan, as the effectiveness of its technology for the treatment of organic
waste is now recognized. Furthermore with this contract in hand the company's
backlog now reaches $50 million for the next five years, thus providing solid
grounds for its development.
