The Arthritis Society appoints new President and CEO

Attention: Health/Medical Editor, Lifestyle Editor, News Editor TORONTO/ ONTARIO/ NEWS RELEASE / --(Marketwire - Jan. 11, 2008) - Susanne Robertson, Chair of the National Board of Directors announced today, the appointment of Steven McNair as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of The Arthritis Society, effective January 21, 2008.

"Steven is a strategic leader with a proven track record for building and turning around businesses," said Robertson in her announcement. "As The Society enters its 60th year of helping Canadians fight arthritis, we are sure that Steven's excellent communication skills and passion for The Arthritis Society's cause mark an exciting time for the growth and development of our organization."

Mr. McNair, a senior Canadian business leader, brings a wealth of experience to this position. He spent sixteen years with CIBC in increasingly senior roles and most recently was the Executive Vice President, CIBC Imperial Service, CIBC Private Wealth Management. Prior to his tenure with CIBC, he was a General Manager with The Hudson's Bay Company.

Steven has also been actively involved in not-for-profit volunteer positions having served as Leadership Chair of the Peel Region United Way, a member of the capital campaign for the Mississauga Living Arts Centre and a member of the Board of Directors of Learning for a Sustainable Future. Most recently, he served as a volunteer Director, MBA Simulation for the Rotman School of Business, and was a member of the Fundraising Committee for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. His combination of national business experience and not-for-profit endeavours, will serve him well as he leads The Arthritis Society through its next stage of growth.
