The Belz Family's First-Ever Inter-Generational Honorary Peabody Duck Masters

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - October 4, 2007) - The Peabody Ducks in Orlando, Florida, recently rolled out their royal red carpet at The Peabody Orlando for the Belz family, of Belz Enterprises, Memphis, Tennessee, owners/operators of the luxurious, 891-room landmark hotel on International Drive. Among the Belz's extensive portfolio, the flourishing Peabody Hotel Group comprises three Peabody flagged properties in Memphis, Orlando and Little Rock (Peabody Hotels), and seven wholly owned and operated franchise properties (Brand Management Division).

In attendance were the proud family patriarch, Jack A. Belz, chairman and CEO, Belz Enterprises, his wife, Marilyn, their daughter, Jan and husband, Andy Groveman, their daughter, Ariel and husband Josh, and their three-year-old son, Ilan Weiner.

The occasion: The March of The Peabody Ducks. At the stroke of 5pm, in the hotel's grand atrium lobby, red carpet in place, the music of John Philip Sousa's "King Cotton March" rang out. The Peabody Ducks were ready to perform their now world-famous march back to their Royal Peabody Duck Palace, having splashed and preened in their splendid marble Peabody Duck Fountain since 11am.

As duck master, David Robinson, prepared to escort the ducks back to their palace, Jack Belz and his great grandson, Ilan Weiner, equipped with their Peabody Duck Canes, stepped forward as honorary duck masters. They were the first Belz family inter-generational honorary duck masters to accompany the North American Mallard team of one drake and four hens, the "Fabulous, Feathered Five," to their evening quarters and dinner of chopped romaine lettuce, grated carrots, live meal worms and Peabody Duck trail mix.

"Little Ilan performed his honorary duck master duties extremely well," said Alan C. Villaverde, executive vice president, Peabody Hotels. "What kid doesn't love ducks? Even we grownup kids get a warm feeling when we see those ducks waddling and quacking up a storm along the red carpet. It was great to see great grandfather Jack and his great grandson Ilan as honorary duck masters at our hotel."

As honorary Peabody duck masters, Jack and Ilan helped duck master Dave to "steer" the ducks to their specially reserved elevator. They were followed by great grandmother, Marilyn, grandmother and father, Jan and Andy, and Ilan's parents, Ariel and Josh. As the parade passed by the gathered crowd, a huge wave of applause resounded through the lofty marble halls of the hotel, and another chapter in Belz family and Peabody histories was written.

The Peabody Orlando is a "Mobil Travel Guide" Four Star and AAA Four Diamond property of Peabody Hotels within the portfolio of Peabody Hotel Group.
