The General Counsel Expands Through Appointment of Four Partners

The Firm's Legal Outsourcing Model Attracts Legal Experts to Serve Small and Midsize Businesses With In-House General Counsel and Recruiting Needs

NEWPORT BEACH, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 31, 2006 --The General Counsel LLC, an outsourced legal solutions firm dedicated to providing small and midsize companies with in-house general counsel services, today announced the appointment of four partners: Charles Savoni, Karen A. Ward, Denise M. Pizzulli and Gerald Bloch.

With more than 15 years of experience in corporate legal and management positions at technology-based organizations, Savoni provides counsel on wide-ranging corporate issues. He most recently served as senior vice president and general counsel for Artemis International Solutions Corp. There, he directed legal affairs and guided the executive management team. Prior to that, Savoni was the assistant general counsel for Canon Computer Systems Inc. and a corporate employment and labor attorney for McDonnell Douglas Corp. Savoni obtained a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a master's in labor and industrial relations from Michigan State University. He received his J.D. from the University of Southern California.

Ward joins The General Counsel with comprehensive corporate in-house counsel experience gained at international companies such as The Boeing Co., Ricoh Electronics Inc. and Yamaha Motor Corp. USA. At The Boeing Co., Ward managed international commercial contracts and gained experience in the international sector, specifically with Japanese subcontractors. While at Yamaha Motor Corp. USA, Ward had a variety of duties, from managing complex litigation to working with sales and marketing to promote the sale of Yamaha products. Ward also has worked as a human resources trainer and co-founded the Harassment Training Counsel, a company that provides sexual harassment and discrimination prevention training to companies.

Bloch, with more than 25 years of broad-based experience in-house and in private practice, is well versed in managing the legal affairs of client companies. He has had in-house positions with Wells Fargo Bank, The Grupe Company and Pacific Monarch Resources, the last as general counsel. More recently, he was the outside general counsel to Gauss Interprise AG -- formerly Magellan Software and acquired recently by Open Text Corp. -- and helped the founders start INDX Software Corp., which was acquired recently by Siemens Corp. Bloch has a bachelor's from Boston College, a J.D. from the University of San Francisco and a master's degree (LLM) in taxation from Golden Gate University.

Pizzulli joins The General Counsel as recruitment director, responsible for establishing the company's in-house legal recruitment practice. In addition, she will play an integral role in the development and implementation of The General Counsel's leadership, management systems and organizational development processes. She most recently served as senior vice president of human resources for California Pizza Kitchen. Before that, she was vice president of management and organization development for Universal Studios Hollywood theme park and CityWalk businesses, where she provided functional oversight for the company's leadership and management strategies with emphasis on performance management systems, talent review, executive development and staffing services. Pizzulli also served in director-level management roles at St. Joseph Health System, Allied Domeq/Baskin Robbins USA, Marie Callendar's Restaurants and Marriott-Host International. Pizzulli earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from Michigan State University and a master's in organizational development from Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business.
