The Government of Canada Supports Association Le Moulin de la Baie Sainte-Marie

SAULNIERVILLE, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - June 2, 2009) - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Greg Kerr, Member of Parliament (West Nova), today announced funding for the Association Le Moulin de la Baie Sainte-Marie to support its 2009 programming.

The Association Le Moulin de la Baie Sainte-Marie, commonly known as Les Productions Le Moulin, aims to provide a variety of artistic performances to the residents of Clare and southwestern Nova Scotia. This year, it will present eight concerts featuring Francophone and Anglophone artists from Canada, the United States, and Africa.

"Our Government is helping and encouraging Canadian artists to compete with the best in the world," said Minister Moore. "We're therefore proud to support Les Productions Le Moulin, which promotes the discovery of fresh talent."

"Presenters like the volunteers of Les Productions Le Moulin make it possible for Canadian and international artists to showcase their talents for audiences that normally would not have access to such high-calibre entertainment," said Mr. Kerr. "Les Productions Le Moulin is certainly a valuable asset to the cultural and economic vitality of la Baie Sainte-Marie."

"The support we receive from the Government of Canada directly contributes to the further development of the Association Le Moulin de la Baie," said Paul-Emile Comeau, President and Artistic Director of the Association. "It enables us to pursue our efforts to offer a wide variety of artistic performances in this region, especially during these difficult economic times."

The Government of Canada has provided $6,500 in funding through the Arts Presentation Canada Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians improved access to Canada's rich cultural diversity by providing funding for professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
