The Heartland Mobile Council(TM) to Host Mobile Marketing Legal Seminar

Cars.com and Lanthrop & Gage to Address Minimizing Mobile Marketing Legal Exposure

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - June 21, 2010) - The Heartland Mobile Council™ (HMC) today announced an upcoming seminar focused on mobile marketing compliance that will take place on Wednesday, June 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Attorney Blaine Kimrey of Lanthrop & Gage along with Nick Fotis of Cars.com will address how to deliver mobile marketing promotions that work and minimize legal exposure.

"Given the importance of information to car shoppers, mobile is a necessary channel for us," noted Nick Fotis, product manager with Cars.com. Added Mr. Kimrey from Lanthrop & Gage, "Mobile marketing represents tremendous potential for revenue generation, but there are many challenges including navigating a sea of statutes, regulations and case law to avoid litigation and liability. One topic that I plan to discuss is the potential damages under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), which represents an ominous specter in this new advertising space."

WHO: Blaine Kimrey, Partner with Lanthrop & Gage, along with Nick Fotis, product manager with Cars.com

WHAT: Seminar on how to deliver mobile marketing promotions that work and minimize legal exposure. Food will be served and tickets can be purchased here.

WHEN: Wednesday, June 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

WHERE:

Acquity Group
500 West Madison, Suite 2200

WHY: Mobile marketing is still in its infancy and, while it has tremendous promise and revenue potential, there are legal issues and implications that marketers must be mindful of before embracing the mobile channel.
