The Law Society of Upper Canada: Treasurer's Civility Forum

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 24, 2009) - Treasurer W. A. Derry Millar will embark upon a series of meetings across the province to discuss the challenge of civility in the profession. Lawyers, paralegals and articling students are invited to attend the meetings which will feature members of the local judiciary and regional senior practitioners as speakers.

"The objective of the meetings is to provide an open forum to promote dialogue within the profession on the importance of civility," said Mr. Millar. "We want to encourage people to attend so that we can discuss how the professions, the Law Society and the judiciary can take a proactive approach to raise the standards of professionalism."

The meetings will be facilitated by Allan Stitt, ADR Chambers, and will feature a panel of guest speakers including members of the local judiciary, regional senior practitioners and staff from the Law Society Professional Regulation Department. Meetings will be held from 5 to 7 pm at various locations and refreshments will be served.
