The Montreal Alouettes: Training Camp Report-Day 10

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - May 30, 2006) - The following is today's recap of the Montreal Alouettes' training camp now taking place at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean.

A better look

For the first time this training camp, the Alouettes used the second practice field giving the fans in attendance a better and more comfortable view of practice.

Coach Matthews' comment

About the first preseason game in Winnipeg:

"We will have all-rookie defensive backs and linebackers for the game in Winnipeg."

About defensive tackle Jerome Haywood:

"He's an amazing push guy with tremendous work ethic."

Not traveling

According to Coach Matthews, Jerome Haywood, Ed Philion, Timothy Strickland, Duane Butler, Darrel Crutchfield and Davis Sanchez are some of the veterans that will not make the trip to Winnipeg.

Friendly visit

Queen's University Head Coach Pat Sheahan and his assistants Pat Tracey and Warren Goldie stopped by to observe practice today.

Beautiful day

The Alouettes enjoyed a third straight day of gorgeous weather with the sun shining and the temperature hovering around 24 C.

Tomorrow's schedule

Practice will start at 9 a.m. at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean.


The Alouettes will not practice on Thursday as they travel to Winnipeg. Players will be available upon arrival at the Radisson Hotel in Winnipeg.
