The Montreal Alouettes: Training Camp Report-Day 17

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - June 6, 2006) - The following is today's recap of the Montreal Alouettes' training camp now taking place at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean.



Last complete practice

This morning marked the last full practice of training camp.
Tomorrow, the team is planning a light pre-game walk-through.

Coach Matthews' comment

About the 2006 starters:

"The middle linebacker position is totally undecided."
About Anwar Stewart:
"He played the best football of his life in the last game (at
Winnipeg)."

Banged up

Receiver Sylvain Girard and return specialist Ezra Landry were both
absent this morning because of a hospital visit where they were
taking tests. Both will miss Thursday's game.

Will not play

Don Matthews announced today that the following players would not
face the Blue Bombers on Thursday due to injuries: Terrence Edwards,
Kai Ellis, Sylvain Girard, Ezra Landry, Jerome Haywood, Dave Stala,
Mike Vilimek and Clinton Wayne. Running back Robert Edwards has a
tight calf and his presence is still uncertain.

Returns

With the absence of Ezra Landry, Lamont Brightful, TyJuan Massey and
Ian Smart will handle kick return duties Thursday evening.

A visitor

Former Cleveland Browns assistant coach and father of General Manager
Jim Popp, Joe, attended practice today and took advantage of his
visit to go fishing with his son.

Tomorrow's schedule

Practice will start at 10 a.m. at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean and
should not last more than 30 minutes.
